INTRODUCTION:
Khairpur is famous for dates growing.
There are 2 million date trees in 62,000 acres of land in the villages
around Khairpur. 125,000 Matric tons are produced every year. Rs.200
million worth of dates and dried dates are exported to India every year.
Gulf and Japan is also one of market of their products.
Growers of dates formed co-operative
Society in July 2003 in one of the Village, Hussainabad. 3 more adjacent
villages joined the co-operative. Members started their saving proprams
and saved Rs.90,060. OPP-OCT provided loan of Rs.193,450 for joint
marketing of raw materials like chemical (Sodium Formal Dehyde Sulphoxy
date), ginnie bags etc. and saved a lot of money. For example purchase
of chemical/drum.

With the provision of loan to 25 farmers
(this is just beginning) they saved 212.5% only in chemicals. In 10% the
field of dates fodder and vegetables are also produced.
